Nordin might have found the passage well-written, its prose to his liking, interesting or provocative. Goodkind might even be among his favourite novelists.

Sometimes it could even be as banal as Nordin finding the quotation “nice” and just wants to share it with others.

I find the “why” question a bit irrelevant, if not meaningless. There is no need to seek out hidden motives or intentions behind people’s actions all the time, especially that of the PAP. Nordin may be a public figure, but his sharing quotations on Facebook may be done out of his capacity as a fellow citizen of Singapore, not a PAP crony.

Human beings have this tendency to find and imagine patterns and meanings everywhere, even in places and events where there aren’t any. It is frustrating.

I may detest PAP’s autocratic tendencies, but that does not mean I caterwaul every time a PAP member says, post or do something. It is stupid. It is uncivilised.

So what was the MP’s agenda, if one may call it that?
